Just got off the phone with a clinical classmate who was failed during clinical eval today...I feel so bad for her. I had such a good clinical experience with my instructor and her story is so awful! She is going to appeal, but I don't think many students win appeals. Oh boy. Gotta keep this one zipped.
Man, this kind of thing REALLY makes me nervous. Reminds me that one slip and I am gone from the program (ok, two slips-I have to fail twice to get kicked out).
December needs to hurry up and get here. I only have two more clinical rotations. Shew. Nursing school is so fickle.

Can I just give you a little instructor advice?? For the vast majority of us it takes A LOT to fail clinicals. Remember your friend is only one side of the story ... and the instructor won't tell you the whole story either if she's being ethical. Do your best ... from what I've heard of your practice here ... you'll do fine!
Advice taken--and I must say that I really enjoyed my instructor and believe she probably had a VERY, VERY good reason to fail this student...
That doesn't make me any less nervous...
And I still feel bad for the student? I guess I just know how I would feel.
:) Thanks for the input! I am REALLY scared that I have instructors coming to my site now-J/K!!!!!
I was terrified when I walked into the clinical instructors office for my mid term eval, and it went great. I think we're just hard wired to react to everything in nursing school. Good for you for doing so well.
Congratulations on passing! Give your friend extra strokes. And I agree with anonymous. Although sometimes it feels like the instructors are out to get us, they really just want us to be the best and safest nurses we can be. Remember, we as students reflect on them as not only teachers, but nurses as well, as they are passing their knowledge to us.
W. :)
well this instructor likes reading your thoughts ... helps hear what some of my students must be thinking even though they won't tell me ... I'm glad you like your instructor ... remember we're mostly human too ;)
